Attorney Susan Fentin of Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C. to be Key Presenter at Virtual Summit In June

Attorney Susan Fentin, a partner with Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., of Springfield, Worcester, MA, and Waterbury, CT, will be a key presenter at “New HR Managers’ Employment Law Summit: Solutions for Everyday Compliance Challenges,” a virtual summit to take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. EST. The virtual summit will be produced in Nashville by BLR®, which is a leading provider of compliance and training solutions in the HR-employment (DOL), compensation, safety (OSHA) and environmental (EPA) areas and publisher of the Massachusetts Employment Law Letter. In addition to Attorney Fentin, the virtual summit will feature three other attorneys who are also experts in labor and employment law. These four attorneys will present an all-day, virtual tele-conference packed with real-world advice and plain-English guidance for less-experienced leaders and HR professionals. Participating in this virtual summit will help participants build their professional skill set and handle new obligations with confidence.

The program has been divided into four equal segments. In Session 1, the panel will discuss labor and employment issues related to the beginning of the employment relationship, focusing on what HR can do to ensure a smooth and legal hiring process. Session 2 will cover how employees should be treated during employment, including tips on avoiding harassment, interference, and unlawful bias in the workplace. In Session 3, the panel will review wage and hour law and common mistakes that new HR managers sometimes make in the important area of employee compensation. Session 4, which will be moderated by Attorney Fentin, will focus on discipline and termination, including how to avoid making missteps that could result in employment-related litigation.

The program is designed for HR generalists and specialists, managers and direc
tors, senior vice presidents and vice presidents, compensation and benefits directors and managers, FMLA compliance managers and administrators, in-house counsel, and CFOs, and the virtual telecast offers comprehensive training without the travel, lodging, and per diem costs associated with off-site conferences.

Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., is one of the largest law firms in New England specializing in the practice of labor relations and employment law exclusively for management. Attorney Fentin has extensive experience teaching master classes on both the FMLA and ADA. Her practice concentrates on labor and employment counseling, advising large and small employers on their responsibilities and obligations under state and federal employment laws, and on representing employers before state and federal agencies and in court. She is the Editor of the Massachusetts Employment Law Letter, published by BLR, and a member of the Employers Counsel Network, which consists of editors of similar publications in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada.
