Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., Attorney Receives Community Service Award

Amelia J. Holstrom Garners Prestigious Massachusetts Bar Association Award for Service to the Community

SPRINGFIELD, WORCESTER, Mass., WATERBURY, Conn. – Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., the leading labor and employment law firm serving employers in the greater Springfield area, today announced that Attorney Amelia J. Holstrom received a Massachusetts Bar Association Community Service Award. The award was presented Wednesday, June 22.

The Community Service Award is presented by the Massachusetts Bar Association and subsequently through their affiliate association, the Hampden County Bar Association. It is awarded to worthy attorneys who are members of both their local bar association and the Massachusetts Bar Association, and who have demonstrated excellence in community service.

Amelia J. Holstrom, a resident of West Springfield, joined Skoler, Abbott, & Presser after serving as a judicial law clerk to the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court, where she assisted with complex matters at all stages of litigation. Her practice is focused in labor law and employment litigation. Since joining the firm in 2012, Holstrom has provided legal advice to employers who want to remain union-free and defended employers against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination claims, as well as actions arising under the Family Medical Leave Act and wage and hour law. Additionally, she frequently provides counsel to management regarding litigation avoidance strategies.  Holstrom is a 2011 graduate of Western New England University School of Law, where she was the managing editor of the Western New England Law Review. Holstrom is a 2015 recipient of the “40 Under Forty” award from Business West, which honors individuals under forty who have achieved professional success and are active at the board level in civic organizations.

In addition to her legal resume Attorney Holstrom is very active in the community. She is an ad hoc member of the Personnel Committee for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, a member on the Board and Executive Committee for the Girls Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts and the clerk for the Board for Friends of the Homeless.
