WORCESTER, MA – Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C.―one of the largest law firms in New England specializing in the practice of labor relations and employment law exclusively for management―announces an upcoming symposium regarding new developments in employment and labor law.

Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., in conjunction with CMEA The Employers Association, and The Employers Association, Inc. of Rhode Island, is co-sponsoring the symposium with special guest speaker OSHA Commissioner Horace A. “Topper” Thompson III, Esq. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel and Conference Center, in Sturbridge, MA from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The cost of the day-long event for Skoler, Abbott & Presser clients, CMEA & Employers Association Members is $190.00; Non-Members and Non-Clients: $250.00 and all reservation include lunch.

Labor and employment law experts will discuss developments in state and federal employment law, changes in National Labor Relations under the “Obama Board,” Wage and Hour Issues, and the intersection between the Americans With Disabilities Act (the “ADA”), the Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), and Workers’ Compensation.

Afternoon workshops will cover a variety of topics, including union organizing, OSHA, ADA/FMLA/Workers’ Compensation Leave Questions. In addition, the program will feature a special session on Rhode Island Employment Law presented by guest Labor and Employment Attorney who practices in Rhode Island.

Commissioner Thompson was appointed by President Bush to serve on the Occupational Safety & Health Review Commission in 2007. Commissioner Thompson will provide attendees with an insider’s view into the direction OSHA has taken under the Obama administration. A graduate of Tulane University Law School, Commissioner Thompson practiced management side labor and employment law in Louisiana and Mississippi for 38 years prior to his appointment.
