Skoler, Abbott & Presser Present Navigating the Electronic Maze for Area Employers

Like it or not, employers are now growing their businesses and managing their employees in an electronic, media-driven world. With the ability to tweet or make Facebook posts literally at an employee’s fingertips, there is little doubt that social media and other non-work-related online activities during work hours is a major concern of human resource managers.

To help employers and managers address the issues associated with Internet use, Timothy F. Murphy, Partner, and John S. Gannon, Associate, of Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., will present a special program, Navigating the Electronic Maze, for CMEA The Employers Association on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

The March 21 program will be presented at the Worcester Country Club located at 2 Rice Street, Worcester, MA. It will run from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The cost of the program is $55 for CMEA members and $75 for non-members.

Among the topics that will be addressed by attorneys Murphy and Gannon are what happens when an employee posts a disparaging comment about his or her supervisor on Facebook, whether employers have a right to discipline employees for their posts, how far an employer may go in conducting Internet background checks on current and prospective employees, and more.
