Skoler, Abbott & Presser to Clarify Issues Regarding Employee Leaves, Disabilities, and Injuries for Area Employers

One of the most challenging areas of employment law is managing employee absences and employees with disabilities. To help area employers comply with the law, Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., is pleased to announce they will be partnering with Toole Insurance of Lee, Great Barrington, and Lenox, MA, in an event that will provide important information regarding absence, disability, and on-the-job injury issues.

The free event, titled Leaves, Disabilities & Injuries: The Intersection of the FMLA, ADAAA and Workers’ Compensation Act, will take place Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites, located at 445 Pittsfield Road in Lenox, MA.  Susan G. Fentin, Esq. a partner and labor and employment attorney at Skoler, Abbott & Presser, will be the speaker. In addition to her practice, Ms. Fentin is the Associate Editor of the Massachusetts Employment Law Letter, a regular presenter of Master Classes on the FMLA to employers, and frequently conducts trainings and webinars on issues related to employee leaves of absence and disabilities.

Whether an employee absence is job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the result of a work-related injury, or due to a disabling physical or mental condition, it can be difficult for even a seasoned Human Resources professional to navigate the various applicable statutes; one bad decision can expose a company to liability for significant damages. The presentation will cover the basics of these three statutes so employers can better manage an employee whose physical or mental condition qualifies him or her for protection.

There is no charge for this event, and a continental breakfast will be served.  To register for the event, please email heather@tooleinsurance.com, or call Toole Insurance at (800) 958.6653.
