Webinar

Curbing FMLA and PFML Leave Abuse

Date/Time:
May 9 2024 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Please join Attorney Amelia J. Holstrom of Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., on May 9, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for an informative webinar about curbing Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFML) abuse.  FMLA and PFML provide employees time off for various reasons, including their own serious health condition, the birth of a child, and the serious health condition of certain covered family members.  From time to time, an employer will have reason to question whether an employee is using FMLA or PFML for a legitimate reason, especially when the employee is approved to take the leave intermittently for chronic, unpredictable conditions, and they need to know what they can do to look into and address their concern.

Join Attorney Holstrom to learn what employers can do to address potential abuse of FMLA and PFML leave without running afoul of the laws.  Attorney Holstrom will discuss, among other things:

  • When and how an employer can follow up with an employee with questions about a certification;
  • Whether recertification and/or a second opinion is permitted;
  • Enforcing your call out procedures; and
  • How to follow up on changed or suspicious leave circumstances.
