Join the attorneys at Skoler, Abbott & Presser and special guest speakers Michael Doheny of the Executive office of Labor and Workforce Development and Mark Adams from the Employers Association of the Northeast for a Paid Family and Medical Leave Breakfast Briefing on September 10, 2019 to learn about changes made in the final Paid Family and Medical Leave regulations and what employers must do to prepare for the new law.

The Mass Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program provides temporary income replacement to eligible workers for various reasons and is funded through mandatory payroll contributions.  At the briefing, the following topics will be discussed:

A summary of the PFML’s coverage and leave provisions, with discussion on intersection with federal FMLA and other laws like the Massachusetts Sick Time Law;

Review and analysis of the final regulations;

Important deadlines to keep on your radar;

Key components of the new law and how they will impact your organization and employees;

Calculating and collecting contributions from your workforce;

Notifying your employees about the new law;

Exemptions and how to apply for them;

What you should and must do before October 1, 2019, when payroll deductions begin; and

What you should do before January 1, 2021, when employees may begin taking leave.
