Attorney Amelia J. Holstrom named Clerk for the Board for Family Business Center of Pioneer Valley

SPRINGFIELD, WORCESTER, Mass. – Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., a leading labor and employment law firm serving employers in Massachusetts and Connecticut, has announced that the Family Business Center (FBC) of Pioneer Valley has named Attorney Amelia J. Holstrom as its new Clerk for its Board of Directors. Attorney Holstrom, who has been with Skoler Abbott since 2012 and was named a partner last year, focuses her practice on labor law and employment litigation including representing employers before state and federal agencies and in state and federal courts, providing counsel to management regarding litigation avoidance strategies, reviewing and revising personnel policies and practices, wage and hour compliance, and separation and severance agreements.

Attorney Holstrom said, “When people think about businesses, they tend to forget they are run by ordinary individuals who have to make difficult decisions daily. My job as legal counsel is to advise clients on what the law requires and help them avoid any missteps, which aligns with the FBC’s commitment to supporting and educating family business owners in what can be a highly sensitive type of enterprise. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to contributing to the organization’s ongoing mission.”

“Amelia is a natural choice to fulfill this key role with the Family Business Center,” said Attorney Timothy Murphy, a partner at Skoler Abbott. “Renowned for her professional skills and experience representing clients in all areas of employment law, she possesses a keen understanding of various business structures and the challenges associated with their management. Together, these attributes have allowed her to consistently offer effective, compassionate counsel on a range of matters.”

“I am so pleased that Amelia has agreed to join our BOD; her business acumen and keen perspectives will help poise the board and FBC for growth and expansion,” said FBC’s Executive Director, Jessi Kirley.

A resident of Wilbraham, Attorney Holstrom frequently speaks about employment-related legal topics for a wide variety of associations and organizations and is a regular contributor to the Massachusetts Employment Law Letter. She was a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly “Up & Coming” honoree in 2017 and was selected to the Super Lawyers® “Rising Stars” list in 2018 and 2019. In addition, she was selected by BusinessWest as a 40 Under Forty honoree for the Class of 2015 and received the Massachusetts Bar Association Community Service Award in 2016. Holstrom is also on the boards of directors for Clinical & Support Options and Girls Scouts of Central and Western MA; and is an ad hoc member of the Personnel Committee for the Food Bank of Western MA.
