Kayla E. Snider grew up in Northern Virginia and has been a lifelong true crime enthusiast. Her early fascination with crime scene investigation’s analytical processes led her to Western New England University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Chemistry. While pursuing her degree, Kayla was introduced to the legal field, reading case law and understanding why the reports she would generate after analyzing items in the lab were admissible in court. This exposure sparked her interest in law, and she soon realized she wanted to do more than work in a lab; she wanted to immerse herself in the law and use her knowledge to be an advocate for others.
Kayla set her sights on a career as an attorney and enrolled in law school at Western New England University, the place she had come to call home. Initially, she believed her focus would be on criminal law. However, her internship with General Dynamics, Electric Boat changed her path once again. During this experience, she discovered the complexities of employment law and the myriad of challenges that employers face daily.
During law school, Kayla was eager to immerse herself in her community and stay actively engaged. She participated in various organizations, including the Student Bar Association, the Athletics Committee, the Intramural Sports Program, the Admissions Committee, and the Women’s Law Association. She was also a member of the Western New England Law Review, serving as a Production Editor during her 3L year.
After receiving her law degree, Kayla decided it was time for a little bit of an adventure and she headed to the last frontier to clerk for the Honorable Patricia L. Haines of the Superior Court for the Fourth Judicial District in Fairbanks, Alaska. During her time in Fairbanks, she gained valuable insight into the judicial decision-making process, honed her skills in analyzing complex legal issues, conducted thorough legal research, and drafted clear and persuasive legal opinions. Beyond her legal work, Kayla fully embraced the Alaskan experience, joining a curling team, hunting for the northern lights, joining the – 45-degree club, observing all the wildlife, and exploring the natural beauty of Alaska.
Now that her Alaskan adventure has come to an end, Kayla is excited to return to Massachusetts and begin her career at Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C. Throughout her college and law school years, she developed a deep appreciation for the New England area, specifically Western Massachusetts. Kayla looks forward to working in and serving the community she proudly calls home.
When she is not practicing law, Kayla enjoys listening to and watching all things true crime, curling up with a good book, playing a round of golf, building Legos to expand her collection, and cheering on the Washington Commanders (no matter how many times they lose).
